When Dr. Sunil and Dr. Sowmya relocated their family to Australia, their daughter carried vaccination records from three countries: India, the United States, and the Netherlands. At a routine vaccination review at an Australian clinic, a nurse spent nearly 90 minutes manually comparing records, identifying equivalent vaccines, and working out what was still required.
The process was painstaking. The records were in different formats, used different vaccine brand names, and followed different immunisation schedules. The nurse was excellent — but no nurse should have to do this by hand.
After watching the process unfold, their eight-year-old daughter turned to her parents and said something they haven’t forgotten since:
“You’re scientists. Why don’t you build something that solves this problem?”
That question sparked a much larger realisation. If highly trained healthcare professionals were spending significant time doing this manually, millions of globally mobile families must face the same challenge every day.
The founders spent the next year consulting with nurses, GPs, paediatricians, immigration specialists, travel medicine clinics, and migrant families across Australia, the UK, the US, India, and the Netherlands. They found the same problem everywhere.
